Portfolio: Voices from the Holocaust
Museum and heritage educational multimedia website projects
Project: 'Voices from the Holocaust'prjectClient: The British Library Education Service The British Library had a set of tapes of audio testaments from Holocaust survivors which they wished to make available online with additional educational and contextual information. Footmark worked closely with the education services department at the Library and with educational specialists to create a teacher area containing supporting material, a student area of information, audio clips and activities, and a resource 'library' of all the audio clips and factsheets. Features: Flash audio - each audio clip has its own web page to present the audio clip in a bespoke Flash player, a transcript of the audio for accessibility, and where possible a photograph of the speaker. Images - all images were sourced by Footmark from worldwide archives. For other British Library interactive educational online projects see: Changing Language - non-Flash interactives including drag and drops, multiple choice questions, timed activities, drop down choices, audio and zooms. Trading Places - Shockwave educational game where the user becomes a trader for the East India company. Player buys and sells stocks and encounters storms and pirates en route! Mapping history - an educational online project to run alongside the 'Mapping History' exhibition at The Bristish Library The Korean War - images and text from the Korean War with investigative activities including narrated image sequences, rollovers, drag and drop. Medieval Realms - beautifully illustrated archive material from the Library's medieval collections, with contextual exercises for the classroom and audio readings.
