Project: Storybank interactive kiosk for exhibition gallery with online display and interactive versionClient: The British Library Education Service StoryBank was designed to accompany The British Library exhibition 'Chapter and Verse'. The education department wanted an exhibition-based interactive installation in the gallery, where visiting children and adults could write a short story and store it in the 'story bank' for other visitors to read. They also wanted a selection of the stories submitted to be available online, and for visitors to the website to be able to post their own stories. A particular feature of the solution for this project was the installation of language filters to stop the use of 'bad' language in the story submissions, and ongoing management of the kiosk application and website to ensure inapproriate stories could be quickly removed. Features: Exhibition computer keyboard and interface to allow visitors to write and read stories. Regular upload of stories to website. Regular checking of submitted stories and web stories for inappropriate content. Use of word filters to police the use of 'bad' language. Animated attractor screensaver when the kiosk was not in use. The ability to write a story on a number of pre-determind topics. Information pages to help encourage ideas for stories. Accessible for all ages of visitors.
