Shortly before Henry V left for Agincourt, a plot against him was discovered. The conspirators - Richard, Earl of Cambridge, Lord Scrope of Masham and Sir Thomas Grey of Heton - were tried in a room of the Red Lion pub in Southampton. The room where the trial took place can still be seen in the pub. Source:

In 1338, at the beginning of the Hundred Years' War, there was a French raid on Southampton which was lightly defended. Many townspeople were herded into St Michaels Church and massacred there. Source:

Edward Exton, who bought the old fish market which is now the Tudor Merchants Hall and moved it to its present location, was Mayor of Southampton in 1624 and again in 1637. Source:
